'Dark Knight Rises,' 'Avengers,' And The Great Superhero Showdown Of 2012

EW Inside Movies:
It isn’t hyperbole to say that this summer will witness the release of the two biggest superhero movies ever made. This Friday, Marvel Studios will finally bring its madcap five-year plan to fruition with the release of The Avengers, a mega-sequel action bonanza. But, as my colleague Adam B. Vary points out, moviegoers who see The Avengers this weekend will be treated to a preview for a very different comic book film: The Dark Knight Rises, the concluding chapter of Christopher Nolan’s bleak epoch-defining Batman trilogy. It’s not just that The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises offer different perspectives on the superhero genre. The two movies are diametrically opposed down to the microscopic level.

People need to understand that they aren't trying win a race. It great that they are different and they are the best in their own right. That's why they will both be big blockbusters at the box office. They both have basically the same fans. I know I love them both. I'll go see both and I may like one a little more than the other but I also know they will probably both blow me away.

It's going to be like 2008 all over again. Two great Comic Book movies done well in their own way...only kicked up a notch for 2012. =)

I liked the last Batman movie... obviously the Joker stole the show. But I have not really liked any of the other Batman films other then the first. They were either too campy or too boring in their story line.

As I have stated previously... Marvel has surpassed DC in the movie realm, and DC needs to figure out what to do to make their films better.

Think about Batman, Superman, Steel, Swamp Thing, Darkman... etc. They were all just too childish in their style. We comic fans are much older then the children they seemed to make these movies for.
