Evoking Katniss in The Hunger Games

Dudley Andrew said, in speaking with regard to film adaptation that,

"More difficult is fidelity to the spirit, to the original’s tone, values, imagery, rhythm, since finding stylistic equivalents in film for these intangible aspects is the opposite of a mechanical process. The cineaste presumably must intuit and reproduce the feeling of the original."

This new article from The Racked Focus looks at Jennifer Lawrence's performance in The Hunger Games, and how it works to evoke that spirit of fidelity and tone. As a result, it argues, she is able to present not only a good performance, but a good adaptation of the character of Katniss from text to screen
