Producer Scott Rudin has signed on Jared Hess to helm a new alien comedy for Disney called The Pet. The movie is based on an original idea from Matt Lieberman, who was recently hired to write a script for the Short Circuit remake. It has been a long-gestating project that was originally set up several years ago when Rudin’s production company was still tied to Miramax. However, Disney and Rudin are teaming up to get things going on The Pet again.
