Neil Cross To Write 'The Day Of The Triffids'

Ghost House Pictures announced today that Neil Cross (“Luther”, Mama) will write The Day of the Triffids, based on the 1951 sci-fi horror novel by John Wyndam and the 1962 film Invasion of the Triffids. The film will be produced by Ghost House Pictures, The Mark Gordon Company, and Preger Entertainment, LLC.

Mark Gordon, Michael Preger and Don Murphy are partnering with Ghost House principals Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert to produce. Ghost House principals Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake will executive produce alongside Susan Montford. J.R. Young and Audrey Chon will oversee the project for Ghost House. Drew Simon will supervise the project for The Mark Gordon Company.

Oh my goodness! I don't know if anyone ever has seen the original 1951 movie but if you haven't, you should. It's a little cheesy but you can't beat it compared to the one they tried to remake before.

I love that movie but no one seems to know about it except me and my older brother Johnny. He and I love the same movies and the same tv shows. We are like two peas in a pod. When I saw this article I had to pick up the phone and call him long distance right away because no one else would have known what I was talking about. He was so excited when I told him....just as I knew he would be. He actually has the 1951 copy in VHS but says it's not watchable anymore.

Needless to say....looking forward to this one no matter how long it takes.

‘The Grudge’ Reboot Gets Nicolas Pesce To Direct For Ghost House

Nicolas Pesce has been set to rewrite and direct The Grudge reboot for Ghost House Pictures. Pesce, who made his directorial debut on the critically acclaimed 2016 Sundance pic The Eyes of My Mother, will resuscitate the Takashi Shimazu-directed 2004 film that helped establish the viability of low-cost genre films. The new film is based on a script by Midnight Meat Train scribe Jeff Buhler, and it will be produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Taka Ichise. Roy Lee, Doug Davison, Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane will executive produce. Erin Westerman and Romel Adam will oversee for Ghost House.

Russell Crowe, David Oyelowo Eye Court Room Drama ‘Arc of Justice’

Russell Crowe and David Oyelowo are circling a movie based on the groundbreaking Clarence Darrow-Ossian Sweet civil rights cases.

Sources tell Variety that Crowe is in talks to co-star with Oyelowo, who closed a deal, in the adaptation of “Arc of Justice” for the Mark Gordon Company.

Fox Lands ‘Luther’ Creator Neil Cross’s Supernatural Thriller Pitch ‘Inside’

Fox has beaten out several bidders to acquire Inside, a large-scale supernatural thriller film to be written by Neil Cross, best known as the creator of the celebrated BBC series Luther. The film will be produced by the Picture Company’s Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman. Fox expands its relationship with Cross, Rona and Heineman, who are in the middle of the Escape From New York remake that recently got Robert Rodriguez aboard to direct. Mike Ireland is the Fox exec on that project and will serve in that role on the new project.
