I recently saw this movie and to be perfectly honest, I found it kinda boring. I don't see what the big deal was.

It's a film to be experienced in a cinema, so if anyone watched that DVDscr that has been floating around for a while, then they missed out.

It is by far the superior adaptation of the book in my opinion. I find it incredibly irritating when people refer to Fincher's film as a remake. (That's the equivalent of saying that The Dark Knight is a remake of Tim Burton's Batman!)

I didn't know any of the Dragon stories before watching this movie. So I got to experience the movie without having any prior knowledge. The movie overall was excellent. I love Reznor doing the score. He puts an extra touch and effort that most composers won't do.

Having seen both I gotta say the Swedish version is slightly better. Though tbh I don't understand why they bothered to try and remake it when its like 95% identical to the original. Scene by scene its the same, though the pacing seemed to have gotten forced a bit.

The only things to compare are the actors and the ending. Well I really think Rooney Mara is getting a bit too much praise, the role itself is very deep so there is plenty of room to build the charactor, but I found her troubled loner persona like her ever changing hairstyle, forced.
At the end of the day you have to compare the 2 and I think hands down noomi rapace was just more believable.

The ending is slightly different, and I don't thank hollywood for forcing in a twist solely to complete their checklist. Minor but totally unnecessary. Same with her getting him a gift at the end, the audience has long known she cares about him, but she IS a damaged loner, and only opens up in her own way. Pointless hand-holding of the audience leaves me with a bad impression.

Might sound harsh, it is a good movie, but the original is only 3 years old and is fantastic. Anyone interested should just watch the swedish one, and read the very minor changes in the remake.
