The Walt Disney film, to be directed by Michael Gracey was formerly titled Snow and the Seven and was originally planned to be a re-telling of "Snow White" set in 19th Century China and dealing with an Englishwoman who is protected by a band of international warriors. While the basic plot remains the same, the new article suggests that direct references to "Snow White" are no longer planned.
