Deadline:
Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group has pre-bought U.S., Latin American and Spanish rights to the upcoming sequel to Indonesian action feature The Raid, which won the Midnight Madness Award at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. Tentatively titled Berandal for the Indonesian market, production will start at the end of 2012 in Jakarta. Raid star Iko Uwais will return and Gareth Huw Evans is set to direct and produce through his PT Merantau Films. LA-based XYZ Films is also on board as producer.
... is is supposedly 1 of the most promising movies to hit this year.
The trailer of this looks absolutely amazing.
The only thing I'm worried about is that the western release will be getting an alternative soundtrack (done by the guy from Linkin Park), which I'm not interested in so I won't be watching it in the cinema. The director has poromised the original soundtrack will be an option on the BR-release so I'll wait for that.
Oh, and obviously I hope it's completely uncut and subbed, otherwise I will boycot it altogether.
Too many asian movies are cut up for their western release, sadly, and none have actually been improved by those cuts, so it's just stupid in every sense.
