Jeremy of The Daily Rotation wrote, "Daniel Radcliffe makes his big non-Harry Potter film return starring in The Woman in Black; a film based on the horror novel by Susan Hill. The film is without a doubt spooky and suspenseful in its first act, but what starts as a slow-burn haunting quickly becomes just another rushed ghost tale, that is focused on making the viewer jump as many times as possible, regardless on if that actual scenario makes any sense at all. The Woman in Black feels like a film without a middle chapter. It starts strong, keeping the scares coming at perfect intervals, but then it jumps ship and starts wrapping up without anything connecting A to B."
