Spidey was on the Avengers roster so its not out of the realm of possibility for them to utilize the character in a 2nd Avengers movie. Although a Peter Parker cameo would be pretty sweet.
This would never happen because unfortunately the movie licensing for these properties belong to different companies. With Sony Pictures owning Spider-Man and Marvel/Disney owning the avengers. That's why you'll never see wolverine up there as well, as Fox won't play nice with them. It's a shame, but that's business.
It used to be that way but Disney bought Marvel last year so I think they could merge those franchises now if they wanted too. I believe the article makes those assertions also. Your correct about Xmen however.
No, I just wasn't interested in The Avengers movie. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the Iron Man movies, and even less of the other members of the Avengers who have their own movies. So I wasn't interested in the movie that featured them all together either.
But I'd read a few comments on this story before posting and I knew I'd be that guy who was way behind on the conversation! Anyways now that I know Whedon is directing I'm a little more interested.
