MovieFone - Mary Badham On Being Scout, Gregory Peck And Losing The Academy Award

MovieFone - Fifty years ago, 10-year-old Mary Badham tried out for a role in a little movie filming near her hometown of Birmingham, Ala.: "To Kill a Mockingbird." The beloved adaptation of Harper Lee's seminal novel earned Badham an Oscar nomination, making her, at the time, the youngest actress to ever receive one. (In 1973, Tatum O'Neal became the youngest for "Paper Moon.") Not a bad for a young girl who had never even seen a movie before making "Mockingbird."

ZOMG!!!
This is fantastic news. Easily the very best book I was forced to read in High school along with Cather in the Rye. This is a MUST BUY for my collection.

Gregory Peck was simply amazing in this movie.

I have to disagree Crazay This book was dreadful,The movie was awful and Catcher in the Rye was pointless drivel. But I hold these 2 book in higher regard than Grapes of Wrath. My hate for that book knows no bounds.

Crazay4528d ago

We were never required to read Grapes of Wrath but Wuthering Heights....Shoot me if I ever mention that I'd watch a movie based on that book.

OSIRUSSS4528d ago

I never had to read Wuthering Heights. That book sound dreadful from the description. All in all I'm glad the Fans of To Kill A Mockingbird get a BR version.

Yes, by far this is one of the best ever. I also loved Grapes of Wrath and Cather in the Rye.
