Entertainment One Grabs U.S. Rights to 'Special Forces' From Studiocanal

The acquisition of the $25 million action adventure picture marks the first major acquisition for the Canadian distributor since expanding its U.S. movie releasing operation.

Ramping up its stateside theatrical distribution business, Entertainment One has acquired the U.S. rights to Special Forces from Studiocanal.

The Canadian distributor snapped up all rights in English, French and Spanish for the Stephane Rybojad-directed action adventure picture about a French journalist kidnapped by the Taliban in Afghanistan.

eOne Extends Film Distribution To Germany; Benjamina Mirnik-Voges Will Run Local Shop

Entertainment One is planting another flag for its overseas distribution network, setting up a new outpost in Germany. This adds to the existing markets where it releases movies: Canada, the UK, Australia/New Zealand, Benelux and Spain. The first title expected for release by eOne in the German market is the Jose Padilha-helmed Entebbe, from Participant and Working Title, and starring Rosamund Pike and Daniel Bruhl.
