Fans of Middle Earth and the adventures surrounding the One Ring will love this new feature from Empire. In the latest issue of Empire magazine, the publisher highlights 10 years of Lord of the Rings movie bliss, with a countdown of over 100 things you might not have known about the series.

One of the facts reveals that Peter Jackson avoids magic in fantasy films, which explains why Saruman used more “scientific” means for destroying Helm’s Deep in the film Two Towers. For those who have read the history behind the prequel The Silmarilion know that Sauron was a tortured and converted Elf himself, turning to the dark side to serve beneath a more powerful and fearsome leader Morgoth.
