Twitch says
Has Jaume Collet-Sera's Akira found its female lead?
Twitch was the first to bring word of Gary Oldman, Helena Bonham Carter and Garrett Hedlund being offered parts in the Warner Brothers backed US adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo's classic manga and now we have learned that Kristen Stewart has been offered the part of Kei, a young medium who becomes the love interest for Kaneda - the role already offered to Hedlund.
With the new The Crow remake coming soon, we take a look back at the 30-year-old cult classic original–and where the stars are now.
Kaam Chalu Hai Review: Based on true events, this movie is thought-provoking and inspiring
Rebel Moon Part 2 Review: This movie doesn't feel anything new or worth remembering, which is a shame.
Sigh......
This just keeps getting better and better.
The casting (if any of it is to believed) stinks of nothing less than typcasting.
Who's looked cool on a bike recently? Garrett Hedland, make him Kaneda.
Who's weird, spooky and a bit emo? Ezra Miller, we have our Tetsuo!
Notwithstanding the fact that the hack directing this (one of Luc Besson's B-movie protoges, a list that includes Pierre Morel, Olivier Megaton et al) will turn this into generic, bleach-bypassed, chaos cinema hogwash. The casting seems to be really pissing into the wind regarding how old these characters are supposed to be. Kei is clearly older than Kaneda. This seems like fanboy wishlisting or cynical exec-sense rather than legit casting.
Wow, Garrett Hedlund AND Kristen Stewart?! How on Earth did we get so lucky!
*Sarcasm*
I've lost hope for this now. I couldn't stand Hedlund in TRON (or anything else I've seen him) and I've yet to see anything I've liked her in. Forget about Twilight and all of that, I just haven't cared for any role she's played.
They are not THAT bad, could be worse
I really don't know much about this at all but they need to get on with it and just do what they need to do.
