Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced a DVD and Blu-ray release date for The Awakening. The horror/thriller directed by Nick Murphy is set to release on Blu-ray and DVD this month. To be more specific, that would be January 29th.
Plays it safe as far as supernatural thrillers go, providing audiences with such reliable hallmarks as a melodramatic plot, an ending with several twists, and plenty in the way suspense and shocks.

Shakefire writes, "For every so-called ghostly encounter there are about a dozen or so hoaxes that exist. Set in 1921, The Awakening follows Florence Cathcart (Rebecca Hall) as she travels to a dilapidated boarding school that is said to be haunted by a child who died there long ago. It’s her job to debunk the case and find the culprit responsible. That is, unless there really is a ghost haunting the premises of course."
