Deadline:
ABC has bought a second high-profile drama project that takes on Robert Louis Stevenson’s split-personality tale of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Jekyll & Hyde, from ABC Studios, studio-based Mark Gordon Co and feature writer Matt Lopez (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice), is described as a suspenseful, darkly romantic retelling of the classic tale with a unique sci-fi twist that I hear may be cloning-related. Set in modern San Francisco, it centers on a female criminal psychologist who is drawn into the mysterious world of a brilliant but inhibited scientist and his volatile alter ego. Going into this development season, ABC brass identified the Jekyll & Hyde lore as one of the areas they wanted to mine. Now the network has two high-profile projects to choose from: the Lopez/Gordon Jekyll & Hyde and the recently sold Hyde, from writer Sheldon Turner.
Dinner with the Parents Review: It's a family comedy series following the Langers, who often turn their family dinners into a disruptively chaotic affair.
Bros Review: The series, as the title suggests, is about two adult men who want to behave like children and we are not here for that.
Going Home With Tyler Cameron Review: This is a simple, no-nonsense but cliched watch, with Cameron's boyish charms taking centre stage.
The success of this will deeply depend on who they get to portray Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
So is pretty much a slightly different yet similar idea to the BBC Hyde in a sense
I think it's a great idea and I hope they do it justice by writing a good script and getting the right character to protray them. I love the story itself. I think everyone has always liked it...it just needs to be presented right.
