Captain America: The First Avenger is the last movie in Marvel’s line up before Joss Whedon’s highly anticipated Avengers movie drops. I’ve spent some time in trying to think of how to dissect this movie for you, but it always comes out like I’m trashing it. The movie is good, it even borderlines great; definitely worth seeing in theaters. This, however, does not take away from the fact that I have some serious issues with this movie. The first half, the origin part of it, is fine. Joe Johnston does an excellent job showing who Steve Rogers is before he dons the winged mask. The rest of the cast and their performances were also well above par, with a special shout out to Sebastian Stan who really surprised me. The visual direction of the movie is also worth commending, the atmosphere and the way it feels airy and has this warm old brown tint to it is spot on. It all comes together so nicely and really draws you in.
