The Great Gatsby Starts Shooting in 3D with Leonardo DiCaprio; Plus First Official Synopsis

The $150 million 3D production of The Great Gatsby has begun filming in Australia under the directing eye of Buz Luhrmann. Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire are starring in it surrounded by the likes of Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher and Jason Clarke. At $150 million, it better be great, for the sake of the filmmakers.

Personally the movie itself is not an action type movie. It's a basic story about a group of rich people and their lives and maybe a couple of suspenseful things that happen like murder but there is nothing in the story that would be so action packed it would need to be in 3D....I mean nothing....they must be adding a lot to the story that isn't really there because it's really just a 1920's soap opera.

Thank you. That was the first thing that popped in my head when I saw this: why in the world does this need to be 3D? This isn't (at least shouldn't) be some special-effects movie. No action. It's just a plain "boring" drama. There's no need for 3D.

Yes, I remember the story from the one Robert Redford did and I really didn't enjoy that one because it was so slow and boring as you say JL. This movie would have to be altered alot for it to have anything that would require 3D visuals in it.
