Spy Kids 4 opens with a pregnant Marissa on a mission to defeat the antagonist, Tick – Tock, before he becomes too much of a threat with his power to control time. Marissa is a married stepmother to two twins, called Rebecca and Cecil, who constantly bet and compete against each other to see who comes on top. Rebecca can’t stand Marissa because she thinks she is replacing her mum who died, so she always pranks her to make her life hell. Marissa doesn’t want her husband, Wilber, who is a spy hunter, and the step kids to know that she is a top secret spy, but Tick – Tock’s henchmen come looking for Rebecca.
