TheMoviePool borrows Arcee from NFamousGamers, in order to take you through his list of the best (and probably most disturbing) films about revenge.
The Crow still has to be my favorite revenge movie of all time. There's plenty of violence, but the violence isn't there for the sake of being violent. The gore is used sparingly, and isn't there for the sake of being gory. It doesn't go out of its way to be over the top or make you uncomfortable, and even the bad guys are victims in their own way.
have to go with V on this one, The Count of Monte Cristo is not only the perfect book but the movie is a perfect description of how revenge is taken.
Not a fan of The Crow or Hard Candy. Was actually disappointed with both films. I Spit on Your Grave remake kind of sucked, but the original is a classic. Never got into Kill Bill. Man on Fire, Death Wish, Death Sentence and Punisher would be on my list! I'm a sucker for revenge flicks! Usually end up liking them if they either have a ton of violence or an emotional story.
Not one of Park Chan-wook's The Vengeance Trilogy even mentioned???
This is just part one of the list. Wait until the next week when part two comes out.
WTF.. Oldboy, it has to be on the list.. SMH
Read next week's part two...
hope to see paul kersey get some attention.
Could have made the list spoiler free. Wouldn't have been hard. Top 2 were good ain't reading anymore.
The Crow deserves a much higher place.Kill Bill is Quentin's most overrated movie, glad he bounced back with Inglorious Basterds...which itself is a revenge tale.Hard Candy and Irreversible, both immensely overrated simply because of the amount of gore...but both movies have some of the worst pacing possible.Wrath of Khan is another overrated POS.I never liked it as a kid, didn't find it compelling as an adult. I'll list some great Revenge flicks, all among my favorites - 1.Sympathy for Mr.Vengeance 2.Once Upon a Time in The West 3.Oldboy 4.The Crow 5.Last House on the Left (old one) 6.Straw Dogs 7.True Grit (both ones actually) Know a couple of other great ones, just not on the top of my mind right now.
This is how I wud rate the trilogy.. 1.Oldboy 2.Lady Vengeance 3.Sympathy for Mr.Vengeance
Lady Vengeance was just horrible, only when compared to Park-Chan Wook's other works.I think Oldboy is magnificent, but it has much of the fanfare based on the explosive twist. His 'Sympathy for Mr.Vengeance' is perfect imo.
Well...I loved The Crow so out of these it would be that one and after that it would be the Kill Bill movies...those were just too good to pass by...talk about getting back at someone!
