It was the movie that first made the Kingpin black with Michael Clark Duncan. But like Cgoodno said, it fit. So as long as it fits, who cares. I think it a joke that they make so many Japanese Anime characters white. The ridiculous notion that someone needs to see themselves on the screen needs to go away. It's dumb. I want quality and race has nothing to do with that.

Because only Peter Parker has ever been bitten by the radiated spider. Why change his name? Why suddenly change his race? Why even bring him back after his death? Why not create a whole new but similar superhero, similar to Nightwing in the Batman series?

The only reason they did this was to appear 'culturally diverse' and absolutely no other reason. There was no existing actor that fit the role well and happen to be black, they specifically wrote in this for nothing other than to make him black, possibly gay, and possibly of hispanic descent considering the last name of Morales.

In this instance, they should have just promoted one of the many other culturally diverse super heroes rather than just changing an existing one for no reason other than to appear as if they are providing a diverse set of super heroes.

@CgoodNo They didn't bring him back. Idk how there going to tie in the spider bite but the Half black half latino kid is and entirly new spiderman. I don't care what reasons they had for doing something to a universe that isn't the one that i hold in highest regards (the one i grew up with) The ultimate universe is where you go for things to be turned upside down, which is exactly what they did then were rioted over. Sorry if i think that this whole spiderman this is crazy. Personally the hole reaction over it just shows me just how much we need more diverstity. Nothing says spiderman can only be white and the fact that some have seen that shows volumes. Everything changes, for better for worse, but still change. It is the thing i love most about artists that they are not confined in the boxes we've made for ourselves and because of that they can show us things that we never thought we'd like.
