Netflix and Weinstein Sign an Exclusive Deal For Films Including 'The Artist'

Netflix and The Weinstein Company have signed a multi-year licensing agreement for the exclusive streaming rights to several films from Weinstein’s library. This agreement will include movies ranging from award contenders to foreign films and documentaries. The deal will allow Netflix the opportunity to stream Weinstein movies before they appear on premium cable.

Weinstein Co. To Re-Release ‘Sarah’s Key’ In Awards Push

Deadline: The Weinstein Co said today it is rereleasing its war drama Sarah’s Key on 300 screens on Friday, giving the summer title a push into awards season. The film stars Kristin Scott Thomas as an American journalist living in modern-day Paris whose research for an article about the imprisonment of Jews during France’s notorious Vel’ d’Hiv Roundup in 1942 ends up turning her own world inside out.

THR: Moving gracefully across the decades and people's hidden histories, Gilles Paquet-Brenner's "Sarah's Key" ("Elle s'appelait Sarah") relates a highly emotional yet unsentimental story about a Paris-based journalist digging into a Holocaust story that she discovers has a connection to her own family. The movie gathers momentum with a steady, assured pace, accumulating incidents, characters, secrets and lies until the rush of events is absolutely transfixing. Cinema can sometimes rival the novel in compulsive intensity and "Sarah's Key" is one such example.
