Frank D’Arbo (Rainn Wilson – The US Office) is a cook at the local diner and is married to a waitress named Sarah (Liv Tyler – The Incredible Hulk). Their relationship is strained and Frank knows it. It doesn’t take long for Sarah to find romance in the arms of another man named Jacques (Kevin Bacon – Footloose), a low-level drug dealer. With his life in ruins Frank decides to make a stand and rescue Sarah from this mistake. The only way he can right society’s wrongs is to create a persona… a superhero that can make his neighbourhood safe again whilst winning back the affections of his estranged wife. That persona is The Crimson Bolt, an avenger armed with a monkey wrench and a sidekick named Boltie (Ellen Page – Inception) who is ready to make every low-life pay for their crimes.

this is a lengthy detailed article about superheroes and their graphic novel source materials, we love super heroes for different reasons, we love them for their colorful personas, shakesperean like tragedies they encounter that molded their ideals. from batman, spiderman, superman and so on, all this superheroes only helps us escape our reality for a moment and let us enter to their world whether gritty fictional city or a more unrealistic new york city we accept everything it offers us, the darker tones we love strengthens the boundaries of realism and fantasy.

I think The Rocketeer is the best one on that list in terms of quality. I also believe there's a reason Mystery Men isn't appreciated.
i dont know about the others in the list but sky high and darkman were above the borderline of mediocrity.
