TGE: "Trust thyself only and another shall not betray thee." - Thomas Fuller
The second episode of FX's newest comedy, Wilfred, takes place the day after the first. Where last week's episode was about the search for happiness, this week's is about trust. I was dubious at first when I read that the show was to chronicle the "existential" adventures of Ryan and Wilfred, but it seems that this is exactly what the show aims to do: at the heart of this dark comedy, beneath the guise of a chain-smoking pervert in a musty dog suit, there is indeed a philosophical exploration happening, each week a musing on a separate aspect of human existence and mankind's search for meaning. Who would have thought that a pot-smoking dog could be so profound?
