TheGameEffect | Super 8 Review

TGE:
First things first: Super 8, at its most basic level, is a science-fiction thriller. This, at least, is what people will tell you. Questions like “What is the monster?” and “Where did it come from?” appear to be the primary intrigue that pulls the plot along. For those unfamiliar with the basic plotline, it won’t take much to catch you up: After sneaking out one night to film a homemade zombie thriller, a group of children witness a train-wreck (sabotaged by their mysterious biology teacher,) following which the town finds itself terrorized by strange electrical interference and increasing disappearances at the hands of an unseen monster.

FINALLY got to see it today! One of the best movies I've seen in a LONG time. Really brings back some of the classic movie elements. Doesn't rely on action packed sequences, and it will make you feel like you are in a different world. I can see a majority of your usual audience not liking it though.

It wasn't perfect. I didn't like the fat kid, he got annoying to me real fast. The beginning is a bit long, but the jokes save the day. The ending is a bit abrupt, but awesome.

The thing I absolutely loved about this movie is every single character had development and personality. Everybody. All the side characters, anyone that had a line in the movie developed and had character. It was awesome.
