George Romero Presents Deadtime Stories

Shock Till You Drop says:

When he's not raising the dead for whatever ...of the Dead opus he's at work on, he's cozying up to a good book to dish some "deadtime stories" to the kiddies.

Yes, that anthology horror film we've been reporting about, George Romero Presents Deadtime Stories, is making its way to DVD. Volume one streets on July 12 from Millenium Entertainment and we've got an exclusive photo gallery and trailer premiere to share with you.

Sigh - Noithing that Romero does anymore intrigues me. Especially after hi smost recent abomination.

Defectiv3_Detectiv34695d ago

Yeah, Romero's recent output has been abysmal but I do love me some horror anthology and Romero's Creepshow is one of my all time faves. Hopefully he delivers.

He hasn't made a decent film since the Land of the Dead remake and even that didn't hold a candle to Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake (which Romero produced so credit where credit is due).

Honestly I just wish Snyder would hop on board for another installment. I'm sick of all these lame D movies he pumps out such as this.

BubbleSniper4695d ago

I agree. I have not seen a DECENT movie out of him since Dairy of The Dead. I know, it wasn't the best movie, but I enjoyed it.

I wish they would make a movie after the Left 4 Dead game. Super gore fest and of course... PILLS HERE.

Crazay4695d ago

I actually did like Diary too.

very funny you say that about L4D, I love L4D and would LOVE to see amovie based on that series.

JL4695d ago

He's definitely very hit or miss. I think the problem is he focuses on too narrow a niche. At this point he's just run out of ideas of telling the same story over and over again. I did enjoy Diary of the Dead a bit, but even before then he had definite gaps of crap stuff. I thought The Crazies was pretty lackluster and Survival of the Dead was all but crap.

Crazay4695d ago

Survival was flippin awful JL. I did like the Crazies though.

JL4695d ago (Edited 4695d ago )

Well I managed to be able to sit through the whole thing, so that kept me from calling it outright awful lol It was pretty much garbage, though. Had some moments of promise, but in the end it was just fodder that showed he was just going through the motions.

I didn't even care for The Crazies. Still just bland, uninspired filmmaking.

Defectiv3_Detectiv34695d ago (Edited 4695d ago )

Which version of 'The Crazies' are you people talking about? Goerge Romero directed the original in 1973 - I'd hardly consider it one of his recent films. I thought the remake was a vast improvemet although it does falter. I wish the would have spent more time fleshing out the themes of social decay a bit more, but instead the movie kind of devolves into an action/horror hybrid towards the end. Still, there was some legitimetaly disturbing stuff going on, and the direction was top notch.

JL4694d ago

Well I was more specifically talking about the remake (though he only produced that one). But neither one of them I cared for.

Yes, the remake was better, but it still wasn't all that great I didn't think. The movie was rather cliche, and I wouldn't classify the direction as "top notch". I'd much more use the words "safe" and "uninspired".
