Thank goodness! Let's just hope we can now get a director who appreciates the source material and actually likes videogames. I'm hoping this means he's taking Wahlberg with him too. Let's just start fresh!

SWEET JEASUS!!! There is a god. This is the best movie news in a long time. I'd like to see Zack Snyder take this on personally but he's busy with Superman right now.

darklordzor4717d ago

Snyder would be interesting but I think he's too stylized. I'd say the best pick would have been a 20 years ago Spielberg, but obviously we can't do that.

In all honesty, this feels like a Joss Whedon sort of thing. I think he'd do well with it.

Personally, I'd love to see Darren Aronofsky do it. He's a man in touch with his inner nerd, and since he's passed on Wolverine, he's got the time.

I'd love to see Duncan Jones direct Uncharted.

I thought he did a great job on his début feature; Moon,
while his follow-up Source Code was just a great no holds barred action thriller. If he helmed it, hopefully he could incorporate Sam Rockwell in his version....

Darren Aronofsky is an excellent director, but I'd say his adaptation would be probably be too visceral and overly complex for what is essentially an old school action adventure film.

I'd have no complaints if Joss Whedon got the job though. His directional style would definitely suit the Uncharted series.

I don't get the big deal about Joss Whedon. The guy doesn't impress me. I'm guessing people like him for this project just because he did Firefly? And part of that reasoning is hoping he'd bring Nathan Fillion with him? I'll go on record as saying again: I don't want Fillion for the part. He's old, and really not that great an actor.

As for Joss, I haven't cared for anything he's directed. The only thing worthwhile he's been involved in is Toy Story, in my opinion (no, I didn't care for Buffy either).

And I kind of about Aronofsky. I love the guy, but I'm just not sure a regular straight-up action/adventure movie is really his thing. I could see him ending up making it too visceral indeed. Then again, he is a talented man, so maybe he could surprise me.

I don't think Duncan Jones would be suited for it either. He's a fine director, but again, I don't think the adventure genre is his thing.

darklordzor4716d ago

Actually for me, it has nothing to do with him possibly bringing over Nathan Fillion. I really think Whedon is one of the best people for the job.

While he still hasn't done anything "major" to a lot of people, his directing style is well suited for character building and getting you really attached to people. Even if you didn't care so much for the shows or stories, you always cared for the characters. It's a unique talent, and with Uncharted's sense of humor, it'd be a great fit.

Maybe we'll get lucky and Uwe Boll will pick it up.

Solid_Malone4717d ago

dude, dont even joke about these things

Crazay4717d ago

Someone should ban you for saying such things.

darklordzor4716d ago

Damn, where's Cat when you need her?!

artsaber4717d ago

Or M. Night Shylaman - he did wonders with Avatar The Last Airbender. So much so, he received plenty of death threats from sane people.

Sahil4717d ago

So who's gonna do it, then?

Quagmire4716d ago

My personal choice would be Peter Jackson, but he's busy for the next 4-5 years with Hobbit, so doubt it. Spielberg possible could do it, considering he's the director of the grandaddy action/adventure franchise.

Horny Melon4716d ago

Now all we need is for walberg to leave the movie

Crazay4716d ago

I suspect that he's as good as done as the new director will want to cast his own people to meet his vision.
