‘The Event’ Review: The Beginning of the End - TVoTV

The Voice Of TV: Well it is official, NBC has confirmed ‘The Event‘ will not be returning next season. This is both saddening and happy news. It’s saddening to the fact that another scripted show falls, especially one with a promising premise. It is however happy news to the fact that this particular scripted show that failed to execute that premise will no longer be moving on. What started off as an average sci-fi thrill ride has turned into a mockumentary of its own the past couple of weeks. It gives me no joy to rip on the show, but it does so little to defend itself as to be taken seriously.

I'm glad it's not coming back...it was one of those that was hard to keep up with and it was on Monday night. They should have put on Wednesday when there was very little to watch...then it might have made it.

There is so much more wrong with this show than a bad timeslot anymore. I was rooting for the show in the first half of the season, but this second half has been horrendous.

I stopped watching the second half so I didn't know...got tired of trying to keep up with it.

For the better. I'd much rather be watching The Chicago Code at 9, despite it also being cancelled.

Well summer is here now and I've got good stuff coming back like Leverage, Memphis Beat, Rizzoli & Isles, Falling Skies, and the Closer all on TNT. Then on USA I got Burn Notice and Covert Affairs coming back. All of these are really good for summer watching. At least I know all of them are except Falling Skies and I'm sure that one will be really good when it starts.

Yeah I'm looking forward to TNT's lineup. Falling Skies will (hopefully) give us the alien sci-fi story we need that The Event could not. I'll be reviewing Falling Skies and Franklin & Bash for The Voice Of TV.

Is Franklin & Bash the lawyer show? I think I remember seeing something about it if it's the one that's suppose to be kinda funny....if not, I'm thinking of something else.

It is. Starring Breckin Meyer and Mark Paul Gosselar (sp?). Looks pretty entertaining. Their TV marketing campaign has been pretty unique - posing as those amateur produced local lawyer ads you see on local TV.
