RCR Media Group to Co-Finance Summit's Highlander

Summit Entertainment and RCR Media Group confirmed today that RCR will co-finance Summit's re-imagination of the epic adventure Highlander which is being designed for a global audience.

Highlander will be directed by Justin Lin from a screenplay written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Neal H. Mortiz and Peter Davis will produce the project. RCR Media Group's principles Rui Costa Reis and Eliad Josephson will serve as executive producers on the film. Summit acquired the rights to remake the classic from Davis - Panzer Productions, Inc. in May of 2008.

The 1st Highlander was the best in the series. I hope they getChristopher Lambert to play some role in this. Maybe he can play Sean Connery's character as the teacher.

Yeah, the first highlander is basically the only one that is relevant (and a lot of that has to do with the epic swordfights set to the Queen soundtrack). After that the series totally went off the rails. It's hard for me to imagine that Highlander has that big of a fanbase anymore.

I think the fanbase is def. still around - I have a few friends that are big Highlander nerds.

I'm one those Highlander people...I still watch the tv series sometimes but you're right about he first movie being the best.
