Tornatore's Leningrad Gets Its Financing

Coming Soon says

Leningrad, the long-in-development English-language WWII epic by Italian filmmaker Giuseppe Tornatore, the director of the Oscar-winning 1998 drama Cinema Paradiso, has found its $100 million financing in the form of producer Avi Lerner and Millenium/Nu Image, according to Variety. The film documents the 900-day Nazi attack on the Russian city now known as St. Petersburg, which was one of the most destructive sieges in history in terms of damages and casualties.

Responding to the downbeat topic of the film, Lerner told the trade, "We have had discussions about the screenplay with Tornatore. We have agreed to make it more upbeat."

just bloody well stop. you don't do reboots well hollywood. quit taking classics and crapping on them. next thing we'll know the character will be named Jane Rambo.

I honestly find most reboots amusing. They are all god awful sure but it's kinda comedic to see someone do something so well that other people try to (very literally) recreate it but fail miserably. Maybe that's just me! :D There's still original movies out there! And sure the new Ghostbusters was one giant pile of poo but we still have the original. And that's good enough for me! >_<

Me personally, I think this is gonna be hilarious.

Remakes/Reboots don't have the best reputation, though i will say that The Fly (80's version) is way better than the original 50's version.. Though they turned it much more into a horror film, the original fly kinda looks like really old and fake compared to the remake. A bit like the early Star Trek series, it was just blindingly obvious and kinda funny to see how fake the monsters and stuff looked.

Lord_Sloth2734d ago

No, because we aren't forced to watch them and they don't magically remove the others from existence. Best case scenario I have 2 fantastic films. Worst case scenario I still have 1 fantastic film. It seriously does no harm.

Ruined franchise in 3..2..1...

Lol there wouldn't be a Rambo if the sheriff left him alone in the first movie
