Cinemablend: A new clip for the Sean Penn music flick This Must Be The Place just emoed its way onto my desk, and as much as I typically force myself to hate sad men wearing makeup on principal, I cannot deny there’s something intrinsically awesome about the actor dolled up to look like the fifth member of the Smiths. Part music video, part footage of people watching a music video, the new material has a very lonely, almost Magnolia-vibe.
Nicholas of Movies Hate You Too writes:
A little bit of everything is being released this week on Blu-ray. On the new release front there’s a fantastic sea bound adventure, a cinematic biopic, an abstract circus act, and holiday superheroes. The catalog releases are worthwhile as well with a Ron Howard fantasy, more Disney animated titles, a slew of Warner Bros/Paramount double features, and a live action-animated classic.
Vicki Dolley writes - "This Must Be the Place is a difficult film to define. A rather confused affair, it begins as a drama of the life of an ageing former rock star, Cheyenne, leading a spectral existence of guilt and boredom in Ireland after the lyrics of his songs led two teenage boys to commit suicide, to a comedic road movie as Cheyenne embarks on a quest through America to hunt down an alleged former Nazi criminal who tormented his Jewish father during the Second World War."

Here's a grouch-faced Sean Penn on the Dublin set of This Must Be The Place looking like someone just butt sneezed in his favorite red lipstick. Sean plays a retired rock star who puts on his Detective La Toya monocle to track down the Nazi war criminal responsible for torturing his father at Auschwitz. The Academy is already engraving Sean's name on an Oscar statute just in case...
Haha! It looks like Penn's taking some lessons from Nicolas Cage. Gotta love those who rock the craziest hairdos. Hopefully, his wild hair doesn't render his performance over-the-top.
