Hanna, from the get-go, is an unconventional film. What might be most surprising and bizarre about Hanna, however, is that nobody appears to be discussing how surprising and bizarre it is. Critics, for the most part, have evaluated the film as though it were another Hollywood action flick, but anyone who watches Hanna and thinks that the narrative is the point has – well – missed the point. Hanna is a smartly disguised experimental film packaged in a commercial body.
LRA writes: Our efforts to avert disaster by avoiding this past weeks horrible offerings were only partially successful when our back up films turned out to be no better with only a couple exceptions. Other than Brian, who played a bit of catch up this week by explaining why both Hanna and Rango were two of last years best films, James and I found ourselves on the complete opposite side of the spectrum with our film choices which include the new fantasy/adventure Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and the comedy(?) Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. We also find some time to cover some recent television shows we have been watching as well as our thoughts on the 84th Academy Awards show.
