IGN: Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that Michael Shannon will star in the role of General Zod in director Zack Snyder's new Superman film, titled Man of Steel.
Snyder stated, "Zod is not only one of Superman's most formidable enemies, but one of the most significant because he has insights into Superman that others don't. Michael is a powerful actor who can project both the intelligence and the malice of the character, making him perfect for the role."
Nekki has announced that the forthcoming gun fu game, SPINE, will receive a movie adaptation to expand the franchise.

Michael Shannon? Really? I mean he's good and all, just doesn't seem right for the part, though. I would've much rather had Viggo in the role.
It moved? Really?!? It's never moved over a movie that didn't have either Jenna Jamieson or Jesse Jane.
I knew it was going to be Zod in the next movie.
i hope that means we'll actually get to see superman in a proper superpowered fight, with major property damage, getting knocked through buildings and all that good stuff.
not just seeing him getting beaten up by generic thugs because of the old kryptonite thing.
the last film was decent enough, but superman is still a comic book character, how can you make a superman film and not have him fight anybody for almost the whole bloody movie.
as for the casting, i'm really not familiar with this guy so i can't really offer any solid opinions either way, mind you i'm pretty oblivious when it comes to this cavill guy as well.
personally, 1 can't wait to see the film, whoever's cast.
As much as I love Viggo, I'm sorry, Michael Shannon is just on another level and he is better suited for this role. Mortensen is better suited at playing stoic characters, I was more disappointed that he didn't get the role of The Gunslinger in the upcoming Dark Tower adaptation (Javier Bardem is still a great pick btw). Michael Shannon plays creepy like noone else, he'll be an awesome villian. He is easily in the upper echelon of actors working today.
i loved him in broadwalk empire, very creepy lol.
