Romantic comedies are a dime a dozen nowadays. Usually they’re all too predictable (like Just Go With It) or they’re so off-base that you feel alienated and out of touch with characters as a result. Still, I rented James L. Brooks’ How Do You Know on the sheer faith that it would be somewhat in the same realm as his last film, the likable As Good As It Gets. Boy, was I wrong. The movie’s a misfire on all fronts.
