The Fighter Blu-Ray Review - WGTC

The Fighter on Blu-Ray is a knockout (pun intended). It’s a compelling tale with some top notch acting. The film does have flaws but they are easily overlooked as you marvel at the impeccable acting. The film looks and sounds fantastic on Blu-Ray and with a few decent features supporting the disc, The Fighter is an easy purchase. Go out and buy it, it was one of 2010′s best and it deserves a place in your collection.

Finally somebody that agrees with me that it was overrated. Though I wouldn't say I couldn't sit through it or even that it was that bad. I gave it a 7/10. But it's not as great as people make it out to be. Really the only reason I would recommend somebody to watch it is for the acting (namely Bale). If it wasn't for that, I'd be happy passing over it. It was disappointing for me and the writing was rather weak.

i dont let hype or what other people tell me sway my opinion on something lol

You couldn't sit through this? My ADD brother that absolutely hates movies and can't go 5 minutes without smoking weed sat through this with me the other night and didn't get up once. We both loved it and thought it was hilarious (specifically Bale)

I shutter to think what movies you do sit through. Also overrated? Hardly. Underrated if anything. Everyone did a good job overall in the film especially Bale.

The only overrated part of the movie for me was Melissa Leo's performance. How did she win an oscar for that? It was so average and underwhelming. She didn't do ANYTHING that any normal person couldn't do in that role.

Movies are to the beholder, to me, movies like 1984, 2001, planet of the apes, indiana jones(not crystal skull), full metal jacket, the day the earth stood still(original) godfather, taxi driver, those are movies that are very deserving, movies that you dont watch but feel, there are a hundred fighting movies that i can name off the top of my head that i found better than The fighter. ive had experiences in my life that are more deserving of a movie than this, im not dissing the acting, but the story did not have enough to it, it felt drawn out to make it longer

Exactly! The story. The writing. Just sort of weak (at least in comparison to how it's praised). Wouldn't at all be in my movie of the year contention. This is one that would never break my Top 10 Boxing Movies list. It was just such an uninspired story. Actually, the story is very inspiring. Just the script was uninspiring.

Underrated? How can a movie be underrated when left and right it's being praised as one of the best movies of the year? Sorry, but no. It was an above-average movie, made a bit better by some good performances and one great performance. I enjoyed it. But still overrated. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't even land in my Top 10 favorite movies of 2010.

You have a real-life Rocky story here. And in the end, instead of feeling inspired and being like "hell yea! he won!" (having that feel good moment), instead you get a "oh yea...and he won too...blah" moment.

And some will argue "Oh it's not about the boxing and his career per se, but rather about the family". Still, in that regard it was lacking as well. There was no real resolution to the family conflict and the conflict of the characters. Instead, it was just a bland "oh let's drop the drama just for a minute so we can have a quick 'oh yea...he won' moment". There was no real arc to the characters. The writing didn't draw me in to the main character, instead opting to go off on tangents focusing on the supporting roles too much. Kinda weak writing really.

Again, I liked it, I'll probably even watch it again (if just to see Bale). It was good. But it definitely wasn't great.
