Shadowlocked - Ahead of his upcoming release, Hall Pass, shadowlocked.com decided to analyse Owen Wilson himself in a pros and cons type article.
So, is the rom-com king a played-out, one-note tune or a melody that never gets old...?
Owen Wilson is usually a hit or miss for me. Sometimes he can be hilarious and then other times he can be a little bit boring but he does have a weird charm about him.
That's what I was thinking. In Wedding Crashers, he was a hit. But, in Night at the Museum, he was pathetic, although he didn't have a big role.
Same thing here. He can easily be interesting and a good actor, but he isn't always. I think it really depends on the writers more than it does him. They need to write as him, so he can stay comfortable.
I like Owen Wilson. He was absolutely fantastic in Wedding Crashers. But unfortunately, him and Vince Vaughn have featured in increasingly worse movies.
They have. The last movie I watched from him was Night at the Museum. A kmid friendly movie. Wow, he needs to do better roles. Otherwise, people will forget about him.
Night at the Museum was a massive hit and it spawned a sequel. Those kinds of movies are golden for his career.
I think its cool they share the time with each other, but they need to pick up better scripts for sure.
I think a lot of his movie choices are why I sometimes dislike him. He isn't someone to get me to see a theater just because hes in it but he is sometimes a plus. Zoolander being an example of him making a movie better than it would have been without him.
He personally just needs to pick better movies that are more suited to his acting style. If you watch some of his movies, his style doesnt fit the character and thats what ruins his image in the movie. Makes him boring in otherwords. Meanwhile if he picks a movie that fits his laid back style, it works perfectly.
Can you give me an example of what kind of movies you're talking about? I'm interested.
Yeah @Soldierone - what movies do you have in mind? I think the piece is great - even if it is on the site I work for. It really breaks down and describes exactly why people like/dislike Owen Wilson. I myself like the guy. Sure, he's not the best actor in the world - and I agree he is not an actor that would get me to the cinema purely because he was involved - but he's fun to watch. Also, the fact that he overcame his past troubles is an endearing quality and Owen should be praised because of it.
