Due Date Blu-Ray Review - WGTC

WGTC writes:
I can tell you right now, there will be a lot of people who don’t like Due Date. I for one thought it was amongst the funniest films of 2010, but I bet you can find a large number of people who hate it. The reason is Todd Phillips. Phillips, the director of Due Date, has a distinct style of humour. You either find it funny or you don’t. At least that’s how I see it. The man is responsible for some of the funniest films I’ve ever seen. Old School, The Hangover, Road Trip etc. To be blunt, if you’ve seen a Todd Phillips film before and left unimpressed, you probably won’t enjoy Due Date. But, if you enjoy the man’s movies, Due Date is a real treat.

It was watchable, but to call it "one of the funniest films of 2010" is way way off. It had its moments, most of which you saw in the trailers. Downey wasn't funny and played the same role he always plays. They basically build up a funny moment, let it pass, then build up another funny moment. You are not laughing the entire time.

itd be like a 7 from me.

I'd say it was one of the funniest of 2010. Guess I'm the only one on this site that liked it.

I agree Soldier. Definitely wasn't the funniest and was somewhat disappointing. I mean if you're a fan of these people and/or Todd Phillips' work, then by all means rent it, but it was only mediocre to me.

I wouldn't even give it a 7. In fact, I gave it a 5/10. Of course with my strict scoring that probably equates to a 6/10 on most other scales, but still.

I thought Downey (and Galifianakis) did well with what they were given. Just the writing wasn't there at all.

You guys have to understand that last year wasn't even particularly good for comedies. It was kind of a mediocre year all around.
