Dan the Man Review: The Dilemma

Dan the Man writes:
Ronny (Vince Vaughn) and Nick (Kevin James) are best friends and partners in an auto design firm. They are pursuing a project to make their firm famous. Ronny sees Nick’s wife Geneva (Winona Ryder) kissing another man (Channing Tatum). Ronny seeks out answers and has to figure out how to tell Nick about what he saw while working with him to complete their critical presentation.

The Dilemma gained a lot of controversy back when the first trailers came out, because it said the word “gay” in it. Now, the controversy had people wishing this would be some good stuff, but in all honesty I think it was just controversy for an utterly forgettable film.

My brother wants to see this for some reason. I don't really have much desire to watch it but I do like Kevin James so I probably will.

I like James and I even like Vaughn. This is nothing I'd go to the theaters to watch (or probably even buy on DVD) but I'll, at the very least, get it through Netflix to watch.

Never been much of a Vince Vaughn fan. He always acts the same. Although he is funny from time to time.

JL4812d ago

I will admit that, yes, Vaughn is pretty much always the same guy in all his movies. If being honest, though, you gotta admit Kevin James is the same way. You don't get varied roles from him really, you just get Kevin James on screen.

Of course I don't mind this with comedic actors (it's the one type of actors I can overlook that). For the most part, most comedic actors usually are the same in most of their roles. It's not their acting (rather than acting range) that matters on-screen, but just their ability to be funny that matters. I could list tons of comedic actors that, for the most part, pretty much always acted the same.

Yeah true. I guess any comedic actor you can think of basically has their own thing that they carry from film to film. Jack Black and Will Ferrell are some examples.

Yep, Jim Carrey (if you exclude things like Eternal Sunshine and Number 23), Seth Rogen, Steve Carell to an extent, Paul Rudd....you can even go back to older ones like Bill Murray, Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Chris Farley, etc and see they did the same thing through a lot of their stuff (some more than others).

I have a brothers who loves Kevin James and said he loved the movie. But, I think he was being biased.
