Sony Pictures' The Roommate Smashed Box Office Sales for Feb 4th - Feb 6th

Sony Pictures recent movie, The Roommate, smashed the box office this week selling 15 million dollars making the number 1 spot. With a 16 million dollar budget, Sony is bound to make profit this upcoming weekend. The Roommate defeated James Cameron's, Sanctum with 9.4 million (30 million budget), followed by No Strings Attached at 8 million (25 million budget).

I guess plastering Cameron's name all over Sanctum hoping to ride the success of Avatar and the fame of his name didn't work for them.

I think Sanctum the name and not enough advertising did not pull in enough viewers. Also, trapped in a cave does not sound as exciting as a blue people world mating by combining their hair together.
