She'll not only look great in a cat suit, she's also one very credible actress.

I'm having a real hard time seeing Anne as Catwoman.

It's hard for me to imagine Catwoman at all in the Nolan universe, little alone Hathaway playing her. Nolan hasn't disappointed me ever though so I'll keep faith. To be honest though I'd really hope there isn't a catwoman at all in the film. So many more interesting villians for Nolan to play with.

I'm not too sure how I feel about this...Hathaway is a pretty good actress I guess, but I just have a hard time picturing her as Catwoman.

Halle Berry played in a Catwoman movie several years back (I saw the movie)and would've preferred her in Dark Knight Rises as Catwoman over Hathaway b/c I've already seen her in such a role and in other Superhero Movies like X-Men.

I remember how everyone was freaking out about Heath Ledger playing the Joker, look how that turned out.

Apparently, the Heath Ledger Joker is the second coming of acting for some people.

This could very easily turn out the same way.

Why are people freaking out by this decision? I've not seen anything from either of them but come on, look how great the first two movies are. With someone as good as Nolan you let him do his thing and i'm sure Warner are doing just that. This film will never be as good as the dark knight.. but it'll still be amazing.

I'm still sticking by my statement that it seems all too coincidental that the press release only mentioned her as playing Selina Kyle (no mention of Catwoman at all--while all other characters mentioned give the alter ego name as well). So I'm still not sure she'll actually be Catwoman, but rather just Selina Kyle in a pre-Catwoman thing.

Assuming for a moment that she is going to actually be Catwoman though, to all those doubting she may be able to do it: check her out in Havoc (well in some scenes in it). To me Catwoman has always been this seductive figure. The problem with Hathaway is she always gives off this wholesome vibe. However, watch her in Havoc and you can get a hint at that 'nasty' seductive side of her. Hell, just the image I used for my write-up on this press release (in the alternate links) shows a good picture of her being that cat-like seductive girl.

So, I think she could pull it off if needed. Nolan wouldn't pick her if she couldn't. Though I'm still on the fence if she's actually going to be playing Catwoman (like I stated before).

I actually like this casting choice.

However, I'm not convinced on the "Hardy as Bane" decision. He's a very good actor. But Bane needs "physical presence" as well. Bane is something like 6'10" in the comics, and Hardy is 5'9". Lifts and camera angles won't do much for that big a difference. And I refuse to accept any story "adaptation" that Bane is physically smaller than Batman.

Everyone! Maggie Gyllenhall wasn't really good in the Dark Knight either, but the movie still turned out awesome!

I was really hoping for tom hardy to be hugo strange.

remember hugo strange is suppose to be as physically fit as batman.

I've been waiting for an actress like this to play the greatest femme fatale in the DC Universe Catwoman, of course, for almost 40 years and erase the debacle that was the Catwoman of Tim Burton's Batman Returns and that has been Catwoman in the comics ever since the did away with anything approximating the classic look of the character in the mid 90s.

Anne Hathaway is a great choice. And if they'll just get rid of the horrible bondage mask and dominatrix outfit that has plagued the character since Michelle Pfeifer and was carried on in the Berry version, then Hathaway should be the best Catwoman since Julie Newmar.

not like a frumpy Michelle Pfiefer in bondage gear and sorry fans of Eartha Kitt and Halle Berry but through 95 to 100% of the comics, she's not African American.

Anne Hathaway looks enough like Julie Newmar that she should be able to remove all the tarnish that's been on the character since Batman Returns and Miller's Year One.

My only request is they keep her hair long. She needs to look like Julie Newmar and Classic Catwoman as she is Anne Hathaway does that much better than most actresses they could have chosen.

Plus her age, 28, is right for the character so she isn't getting long in the tooth like Kate Beckinsale or Rona Mitra (formerly my top two picks) and she isn't too young like Megan Fox or Leighton Meester.
