Upstaged: Scene Stealing Performances from Supporting Actors

There are great actors that can take an ordinary role and turn it into something magical. And there are characters so well-written that they can make any actor look good. Angelina Jolie is the only good thing about Girl, Interrupted. And Haley Joel Osment could have made a career out of his tender and terrified turn as Cole Sear in The Sixth Sense. Something like this should be in Culture channel since it's more of a general type thing rather than talking specifically about a movie or so. It's one of those "Trivia Potpourri" type deals.

Christoph Waltz was just pure awesome in Inglorious Basterds. And I did enjoy Chloe as Hit-Girl. The rest on the list, though, don't much care for.

Some that should be mentioned, Heath Ledger as the Joker. That's what his role was billed as (supporting actor) and that's what he won the award for. Very deserving as well. He absolutely owned that movie.

Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects. Edward Norton in Primal Fear. He made that movie. Great performance by him. John Turturro in practically every scene he does. Pesci in Goodfellas (did damn good in Raging Bull too, but I'm not sure I'd call that scene-stealing as De Niro was in top form). Cuba Gooding Jr in Jerry Maguire.

Very excellent list. I totally agree with all of those. I think one performance that can't be forgotten is Harrison Ford as Han Solo...He totally stole the show from Mark Hamill.
