Casino Jack is the last film from late director George Hickenlooper, who died on October 30, 2010. Most well known for his documentary Hearts of Darkness, chronicling the nightmare of a movie shoot for Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now, Hickenlooper was also responsible for films like Factory Girl and Mayor of the Sunset Strip. With Casino Jack, Hickenlooper takes a look at Jack Abramoff, the famed US lobbyist who was charged with defrauding American Indian tribes, corrupting public officials, tax evasion, conspiracy and other things.

Casino Jack was released on Blu-Ray and DVD today and in honor of the film’s release, We Got This Covered sat down with one of its stars, Jon Lovitz. In the film, Lovitz plays Adam Kidan, the former owner of SunCruz Casinos and former president of Atlantic & Pacific Mattress Co. Kidan is an acquaintance of lobbyist Jack Abramoff (played by Kevin Spacey), and together they both end up pleading guilty to fraud charges. The film follows Abramoff and takes us through his career as he rises to power only to be caught up in a massive corruption scandal.
