Spielberg Equals Hitchcock, But Nobody Compares to Monroe

Couch Potato Club:
A new Turner Classic Movies (TCM) poll gauges how modern movies, stars and filmmakers stack up against Hollywood icons. The sometimes surprising results show that Johnny Depp fills Errol Flynn’s shoes, and Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt capture some of the glamour of power couple Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Why doesn't someone like Megan Fox fit that role? I think she would, since Monroe was nothing more than a sex symbol. Megan Fox fits that role nearly perfectly. Yet the only people attempting to take those roles is idiots like Lindsay Lohan.

I also dont think Speilberg exactly matches up to Hitchcock. Influencial? Yes but nothing more than that.

I think this list is nothing but a giant hokum. The author of this post obviously doesn't know what he is talking about. The sample space is biased the moment the survey is put on TCM, from that, nothing coming out from the survey would be accurate.

Soldierone2226d ago

Its opinion, not facts, so i dont expect it to be accurate at all lol. I just dont feel that Monroe is that big of a deal, and Megan Fox fills that role perfectly in modern day.

It would still be better if they're not so opinionated. There is a line between constructive opinions and stupid opinions.

Soldierone2226d ago

Its not a school survey or anything in regards to finding facts to improve the industry. Its just a survey to give the site something to talk about.

Kiri2226d ago

I understand what you're saying. It's just that, when they are at the point where they have to come up with arbitrary things to talk about, they might as well close down.

TCM viewers probably would favor older films and stars to todays stars and film.
So the entire survey is skewed towards older Hollywood.
