On Screen Review: The Girl Who Played With Fire

Noomi Rapace returns to her role as Lisbeth Salander in "The Girl Who Played With Fire", the second in the 3 part series by Swedish author Stieg Larsson.

Lisbeth returns to Sweden after a year long haitus around the world. What she discovers is that her guardian hasn't been fulfilling his duty, and her once lover Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist) is hot on the heals of a sex trafficking sect working out of Stockholm.

When she is framed for 3 separate murders she goes on the run discovering more than she bargained for.

Remove Cinema since this is a DVD review (it's one or the other). Not to mention this would be Indie instead of Cinema anyways.

This film is much better than the first. You get to find out who Lisbeth is, which I think lacked heavily in the first film.

The Girl Who Played With Fire Review - Alternative Magazine Online

Following on directly from The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2009), the second film in the trilogy of adaptations of Steig Larsson’s best-selling juggernaut Millennium tries to recapture the magic of the first film. Unfortunately, The Girl Who Played With Fire has many apparent short falls that will only serve to leave audiences distinctly unfulfilled. However, the appetite for the imminent third part of the trilogy will have not been affected whatsoever.

DOG: The Girl Who Played With Fire Review

DOG: The Girl Who Played With Fire is equally well written, acted and shot, technically admirable in every respect. But it is also rather soulless. Mark Kermode wasn't at the screening this time either.

JoBlo Review: The Girl Who Played With Fire

JoBlo:
While I prefer the Oplev’s original mostly due to the fact that I preferred the first book of the series, The Girl Who Played With Fire is nonetheless a remarkably faithful film version of Larsson’s book. I look forward to seeing the third film, The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest, as well as the eventual films by Fincher. Will Craig, ad Mara be as good in the leading roles as Nykvist, and Rapace are in these? We’ll see.
