Are You a Jackass for Liking 'Jackass'?

Hollywood: Earlier this week, Pajiba’s Dustin Rowles delivered a scathing critique of those of you who paid to see Jackass 3D — and with a $50M opening weekend, odds are it was a lot of you. While he understood why someone might be interested in it, he argued that you have somehow surrendered the moral high ground if you did so.

Ha! This writers makes some very interesting points. Movies are there for entertainment, and if things like Jackass is what entertains you, it doesn't mean that you're any less of a person, or that you can't enjoy other films of more import. If you didn't like a movie for some reason but liked Jackass, that's not a statement on your ability to deduce good films from bad. Glad this guy gave a good counterpoint.

When it comes down to it, they entertain people in a creative way. Does this film break grounds in art, film making, or story? Absolutely not. As a film its horrible. But its fun to watch, just like Paranormal Activity.

Yep, that's the attitude to keep. I love film (studied it, worked in it professionally), I'm a big art fan and have dedicated my life to it...but I don't get that holier than thou attitude, and I'm tired of the reviewers and 'fans' that do. I love film in all it's genres and flaws.

I can analyze and pick apart to find symbolism and deeper meanings with the best of them. But I can also sit back and enjoy a movie for what it is. I wish all film fans could do that as well.

If you work for Fox, you are a dbag and need to stop causing trouble if you watch this. If you are a normal human being, you payed the fee just to have some fun while in a theater. Nothing more, nothing less. At least they are upfront with their lack of film making, its not like Hannah Monatana the movie or anything.

Ha! Very nice remark, and a good jibe at Hannah Montana.

Interesting Article, i still haven't watched the movie.

It's a Jackass movie, so if you like that thing then by all means go for it. Overall it's nothing more special than that. I wouldn't have minded if I'd waited until it came out on DVD.
