Bryan Singer Gets 'Jack The Giant Killer' Green Light; Who'll Climb Beanstalk?

Deadline:
Bryan Singer is getting his green light on Jack the Giant Killer, and he’s now figuring out who'll climb the vine and slay the oversized villain. I’m told it has become the role that young actors are circling. I've also heard that Singer's sweet on Aaron Johnson, who played the title role in Kick-Ass, and portrayed the young John Lennon in Nowhere Boy. Now, Johnson is hardly a lock; New Line is seeing a lot of other young actors as well. Production will begin this spring.

Bryan Singer is a great director that could make something out of nothing with everything. He gets pushed aside for giving films his own added touch though, its kinda annoying. Let him be creative, he does a great job, respect it for that.

I've been very interested in this film, since he started talking about it over a year ago. I'm a little saddened that he dropped directing X-Men: First Class to do it (mostly because X-Men really needs him back), but I'm thinking this'll be a better move for him. I still have a lot of respect for the man, and also think he's a very talented director. He has his faults, but he's got a lot of vision in him.

Didn't he get alot of hate for his Xmen film? That could be a reason why he doesn't want to do it.

Thats something I look into as well. If i were to make films like this, I wouldnt go near films like Xmen that have this huge universe and huge fanboy following. Why? Because you mess one little detail up and the entire fanbase flames you for it.

Meanwhile things like Spiderman or Star Wars, you can be creative. Create your own stories, tell the same moral story, and get alot of fans.
