CB - Wes Craven has been making horror movies for nearly 40 years. When you hear someone call a horror movie cliché, probably what they’re really saying is that the movie does it the Wes Craven way. Craven revolutionized the horror genre and spawned so many copycats that his horror method is no longer his own, it’s a tired cliché, even when he does it. He does it again in My Soul To Take, a movie that’s really not much more than a collection of the usual, lame, horror movie misdirections but at least these familiar misdirections are directed by the guy who knows them best.
Jackass 3D is a record-breaker this weekend a massive-sized $50 million gross! That's the biggest October opening in history! Offering an alternative, Red also impressed, while The Social Network and Secretariat had exceptional holds.
Red did better than I expected. Jackass though, that is a HUGE number. I didn't expect it to blow up like that. Breaking a record for the month of October no less. They have to be VERY please with those numbers. Speaking of very pleased, ScreenGem has got to be loving those numbers on Easy A given what it took to make the movie. And nice to see The Town is still doing well with a nice $80 Million for its whole time in theaters.
Box Office numbers have been reported, and Jackass 3D smashed even the most bullish expectations with $20 million on Friday. Red impressed too, earning on the very high end of projections.
Was expecting this for the most part. Both have strong crowds, but Jackass had the bigger one. It would be more suprising if one of them failed instead of both doing well.
