AC: The slasher genre is one subsection of the horror field which saw most of its glory days in the late seventies and the early eighties. The slasher genre is basically a film with a body count. The movies in this section of horror typically revolve around a masked and mysterious killer who strategically and brutally murders their victims one by one throughout the film. Although there hasn't been any new slasher films released in recent years that aren't remakes or sequels, there can be no doubt that these films have a market as well as an influence on other horror films.
