Disney's Sorcerer's Apprentice made about $4 million today from 3,385 theaters in the U.S. and Canada. That makes for a 5-day projection of less than $30M, which is extremely disappointing for the costly Jerry Bruckheimer tentpole starring Nic Cage, and much less than even the low-ball $35M which Hollywood thought it could make.

STL Today: In this story, Cage plays wizard Balthazar Blake, who was one of three wizards trained by Merlin to fight the evil Morgana back in the Round Table days. Merlin died in the fight, but Blake managed to trap Morgana and turncoat wizard Horvath (Alfred Molina) in an urn that he has kept hidden for centuries - until he can find the "Prime Merlinian," the super wizard who will have the power to kill Morgana.
