On Screen Review: Themba

Themba reaches South African audiences just in time for the Fifa World Cup. In tune with the nations growing spirit for the beautiful game, “Themba A Boy Called Hope” tells the story of young Xhosa native growing up in the Eastern Cape with dreams of playing for Bafana Bafana.

Themba (Junior Singo) lives with his mother Mandisa (Simphiwe Dana) and sister Nomtha (Anisa Mhlungula) in rural Eastern Cape. Amidst a beautiful landscape the difficult day to day struggles faced by this small family seem nullified yet relate to the troubles of an entire continent. Forced to leave her children in search of work in Cape Town, Mandisa asks a family friend Luthando (Patrick Mofokeng) to safeguard her family in her absence.

The story is too old to be commented.
