Well, him leaving for the UFC might be bad for Lesner, too. The UFC Heavyweight landscape has changed since he left. Current champion, Stipe Miocic, can match his ground game (though his fight against other top contender Nganno wasn't exactly the explosive knockout threat we were expecting). Lesner might not fair well against that kind of talent in his division.
The WWE, though, has another issue, and that is that they have been finding a hard time to get Roman Reigns, the guy that would be facing, and maybe beating, Lesner at Wrestlemania for the title, over as a face talent. I've not seen the WWE as tone deaf about one wrestler than I have seen about them pushing Reigns. Who HASN'T wanted to see him heel? And who DIDN'T see that leak of the proposed main event for Mania a year earlier? Yet, the WWE has refused to change course for anything, and has let nothing (not even low buy rates and ticket sales) deter them from trying to make Reigns out to be their top face. They need to get the belt off of Lesner, but it might end up on the waist of someone that's just as despised right now because of how the WWE just refuses to listen to anyone. At least the title will be seen week to week instead of every month or two.
